Calgon PT Powder 

Calgon PT Powder is used in hard water areas to minimise the negative effects of hardness of water in dyeing and printing processes. 

Hard water is caused by calcium and magnesium being present in the water. If untreated, this can cause considerable dulling and weakening of almost all dye results.

The addition of Calgon PT in hard water areas will nullify the negative effects by "wrapping up" the calcium and magnesium salts. 

Calgon PT does not need to be used in soft water areas, or where hard water has been subjected to a softening treatment. 

This product is used at the beginning of the dye process, and is generally added to the water before the fabric. Please see the Information Sheets and Booklets page to find the recipe for your preferred technique.
