Ammonium Sulphate
Ammonium Sulphate is a fixing agent that is used when applying acid dyes to wool or silk, either by dyeing or printing techniques.
Ammonium Sulphate is mildly acidic, and is a more effective alternative to vinegar or acetic acid when applying acid dyes. Unlike acetic acid or vinegar, Ammonium Sulphate does not boil off when hot dyed or steamed. As a result, ammonium sulphate can help you to achieve stronger colours.
Ammonium Sulphate is recommended when using any of the following dyes to dye or print wool, silk, or nylon:
- Kemtex Acid Dyes
- Kenanthrol Dyes
- Dischargeable Acid Dyes
- Illuminating Acid Dyes
- Kenamide Dyes
- Dyacid Dyes
